Cordova

Cordova is a community located in Shelby County, Tennessee, United States. Its history is closely tied to the development of the Memphis metropolitan area.  Like Collierville, Cordova was also predominately a farming community until the arrival of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad in the 1850s. The railroad depot in Cordova became a central hub for transportation and trade. After the Civil War, Cordova, like many other Southern communities, went through a period of reconstruction and recovery.

In the 20th century, Cordova experienced suburbanization and population growth, fueled in part by its proximity to Memphis. Residential and commercial development increased, and Cordova became more integrated into the larger Memphis metropolitan area.  As the construction of Interstate 40 and the expansion of infrastructure contributed to the community’s accessibility and growth, Cordova attracted businesses, schools, and amenities.

One notable feature in the Cordova area is Shelby Farms Park, one of the largest urban parks in the United States. The park has become a central recreational area for residents and visitors alike.
